The Benefits of Massage
Most people would agree that massages are calming, but the power of massage goes far beyond making your feel a bit more relaxed. This statement from the Mayo Clinic website sums it up:
Brush aside any thoughts that massage is only a feel-good way to indulge or pamper yourself. To the contrary, massage can be a powerful tool to help you take charge of your health and well-being, whether you have a specific health condition or are just looking for another stress reliever. You can even learn how to do self-massage or how to engage in massage with a partner at home.
"A powerful tool to help you take charge of your health and well-being." What a great way to describe massage! So just how can it help support good health? To begin with, research has found that massage is an effective method for reducing stress, pain (including back pain), and muscle tension. While further study is needed, there is also evidence that it can help in the treatment of anxiety, digestive disorders, fibromyalgia, headaches, insomnia related to stress, and sports injuries.
With regard to mental health, a review of more than 12 studies found that massage can help lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol, helping to relieve depression and anxiety. It has also been shown to be an effective method for lowering blood pressure. Massage can help create a deep bond between you and your significant other as well. What Makes Verefina Massage Oil Awesome
Every ingredient in our products has a special purpose, and it's no different with our Massage Oil. Apricot, sweet almond, and fractionated coconut oils are mixed together along with sweet orange essential oil to create a luxurious blend that goes on smoothly and creates a soothing glide during a massage. Our massage oil deeply nourishes the skin, and each oil has unique properties that support optimal health of your skin.
Apricot Oil
Apricot oil has three main characteristics that make it an excellent ingredient in massage oil: it's light and long-lasting, rich in beneficial fatty acids, and high in vitamins A and E.
Like sweet almond oil, apricot oil is light; and it absorbs easily, too, so it doesn't leave skin feeling greasy. Apricot oil has a long shelf life and will last up to two years if refrigerated.
This oil contains oleic, linoleic, and palmitic acids, all of which help determine the physical structure and function of the skin. The presence or absence of these fatty acids impacts the number of wrinkles that develop, how elastic the skin is, and how it responds to UV radiation. Therefore, apricot oil can help support healthy aging of the the skin by providing these fatty acids.
This oil provides vitamins A and E which, as mentioned above, have several benefits for the skin.
Sweet Almond Oil
Sweet almond oil is an extremely mild, hypoallergenic oil, so it's good for all skin types. It has a light texture and a mild, pleasant scent, making it an ideal carrier oil for the orange essential oil. It's also rich in vitamins A and E and several of the B vitamins. When applied topically, vitamin E permeates the skin and provides antioxidant protection, while Vitamin A helps smooth the skin and reduce wrinkles. Sweet almond oil also has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help soothe dry, itchy skin and even help ease the symptoms of eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis.
Fractionated Coconut Oil
Fractionated coconut oil (FCO) is derived from regular coconut oil, but it has a different fatty acid composition. During the process of fractionation, some of the fatty acids found in coconut oil are removed, leaving behind a tasteless, odorless oil that has a long shelf life and is liquid at room temperature.
FCO blends well with other oils, so it's a great addition to our massage oil. It's also an excellent carrier oil and distributes the orange essential oil in the massage oil extremely well.
This oil is extremely moisturizing, and skin feels refreshed and hydrated after using it. It also provides antioxidants that protect the skin from free radical damage.
Sweet Orange Oil
Derived from orange peels, orange essential oil has a deliciously sweet and uplifting aroma. This oil can help soothe tense muscles and decrease inflammation, making it ideal for use during a massage. As an aromatherapeutic oil, orange essential oil can help relieve anger, anxiety, and depression and create feelings of happiness and warmth.
Orange essential oil also has a positive effect on the immune system; it contains high levels of vitamin C and helps detoxify the body. This essential oil can also help reduce inflammation caused by fevers.
To use this delicious Massage Oil, pump a generous amount into hands, and massage into skin. As a nourishing body oil, apply to wet skin after a shower. For a luxurious skin softening bath experience, simply add a few pumps to the water as you're filling up the tub!
Massage can help reduce stress, ease pain, and relieve muscle tension. And when you use Verefina Massage Oil, you can enjoy its aromatherapeutic benefits, too.
Note: Massage can be extremely beneficial, but it's not recommended for everyone. The Mayo Clinic cautions against massage for persons with:
- Bleeding disorders or those take blood-thinning medication
- Burns or healing wounds
- Deep vein thrombosis
- Fractures
- Severe osteoporosis
- Severe thrombocytopenia
