Magnesium Deodorant vs. Deodorant Cream: Which Verefina Formula Is Right for You?

Finding a deodorant you love can take a little trial and error. The formula has to feel good on your skin, fit into your routine, and help you feel confident through the day. At Verefina, we make two aluminum-free options with different strengths: our Magnesium Deodorant stick and our Moisturizing Deodorant Cream.

Here’s a simple way to decide where to start.

Choose the Magnesium Deodorant stick if you want an easy, everyday glide

Magnesium Deodorant is our low-baking-soda option. It combines magnesium hydroxide with a small amount of baking soda to help manage odor, while arrowroot helps absorb some moisture. Cocoa and shea butters give the stick its comfortable glide.

If baking soda has bothered your underarms before, this is the gentler of our two formulas to try first. It’s also the one to reach for if you prefer a familiar stick that takes just a few swipes to apply.

To use it, roll up about a quarter inch, hold the stick against your skin for a moment to warm it, and apply two or three swipes to clean, dry underarms. Start with a light application; more product is not necessarily better.

Choose the Moisturizing Deodorant Cream if you want our strongest odor protection

Our Moisturizing Deodorant Cream is a more baking-soda-forward formula. It’s the option we suggest for people who tolerate baking soda well and want extra odor protection for long days, workouts, travel, or other busy moments. Arrowroot helps absorb moisture, while coconut oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter give the cream its rich texture.

You apply this one with your fingertips, so you can cover exactly where you want it. Use less than a pea-sized amount per underarm and gently massage it into clean, dry skin. Avoid applying it to broken or freshly shaved skin. Because it contains more baking soda, the cream may not be a good fit if your skin is easily irritated by that ingredient.

What both formulas have in common

Both are aluminum-free deodorants made to help with odor while letting your body sweat naturally. Deodorant and antiperspirant do different jobs: these formulas help you feel fresh, but they are not designed to stop perspiration. Arrowroot can help absorb some moisture; it won’t keep underarms completely dry.

Both use essential oils for scent rather than synthetic fragrance. Since skin and scent preferences are personal, it’s worth paying attention to how a formula feels on your body. Patch test a new product first and stop using it if irritation develops.
